I guarantee you there was not going to be "thousands of eyeballs on this thread" after you moved it to the Travel Tips branch. That branch can go 5+ days without any activity.
Of course, now that you've moved it again... to the US forum, yes there will be more readership.
So questions like what suitcase to use, what clothes to pack, should now go on the Destination Forums according to where you are headed?

I'll admit that I did not read all of these posts. However, the lady who cleans our house does so for VRBO and Airbnb also. She leaves toilet paper flowers and occasionally towel creations. We tip her generously each year. I would expect that she receives tips from those as well. in hotels the "cleaning fee" is built into the room charge. I doubt the VRBO fee passes in its entirety to the contracted house cleaner.

If you don't get daily housekeeping exactly what service are you tipping on?
Cleaning fees are for turning the unit.. after you've left. Sometimes an owner might do it, but most likely they've got a service, although I've known owners to come in and do an inspection if they live nearby but very often they don't.

For what it's worth, there are currently more people viewing Travel Tips than the Lounge. It's nearly always the case. Look at the number of views of the Lounge threads vs. Travel Tips threads. Travel tips gets FAR more eyeballs than the Lounge. Because it's visible to Google

Maybe more "viewing" (because of the Google search connection) but there are definitely not more people actively posting there. There's only a few regulars who try to answer the few questions that come up. Just look at the dates of the thread replies comparing the two forums and you will see the pattern.
But if "eyeballs" is your priority not actual live participation... that's different.

Sort of like staying in a motel for one night. The room was clean when you arrive, but nothing is done while you’re there. Yet I’ve been told I’m supposed to tip the maid for cleaning the room before we arrived. Should I also tip the janitor who mopped the lobby or the guy who mowed the grass?
