Yellowstone etc. in October
We are contemplating a trip in the latter part of October to Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier national parks for a week or 10 days, a bit longer is possible. Is this a good time to go? We would fly in and out of Salt Lake City and rent a car from there. We are going with DD to celebrate her pinning as an RN. We are trying to decide between the parks or Costa Rica - obviously 2 very different places but are leaning toward the parks.
Thanks for any and all info and advice.

The biggest question is: How are you with snow and cold?

You need to be aware that by late October some of the passes in Yellowstone may be closed and you will need to have alternate routes for going between GTNP and Galcier. But for the areas you can access, October is a great time of year, cold nights, usually sunny days and vastly smaller crowds.

There is more to driving in bad wx than just inside the Park. You will find many Mountain Passes between your starting point and YS.
