Would you recommend - Princess Cruises' Paris City Drive & Seine River Cruise Tour ?

My husband & I will have a mid May port stop at Le Harvre, and there will be a limited time to see Paris.
We are thinking that it'd be risky to go on our own, since the port is @ 3hours away from Paris and the ship will not wait for late returnees unless they are with one of the Cruiseline's tours.
So we are looking at doing the Paris City Drive & Seine River Cruise tour.
Would you recommend this tour, if not what do you suggest?

It does depend a little on what you want to see. I don't know where that tour goes, but If I only had one day in Paris, I'd probably do it on my own. I'd see Notre Dame and Ste Chappelle, have lunch , and then go to L'Orangerie to see the Monets. But then I feel no need to see the Eiffel tower up close, or L'Arc de Triomphe, there are so many hugely famous artworks in Paris, I'd pick the one that means the most to me, and go see it and walk a bit, and work around that.

I'm sure the cruise offers a simple option of transportation only? How much time does that give you in Paris?

You should repost this in the Europe forum. I'd say the Cruise forum, but it's not as highly trafficked. I think you'll get a better response there.

However, I simply can't recommend a trip to Paris as a day-trip from Le Havre. It's totally not worth it; you spend too much time driving around and not really seeing anything at all. You can "see" Paris that way as easily on a DVD. And there's so much to see in Normandy itself that I'd recommend a trip that focuses on that region, perhaps a trip to see the D-Day Beaches and/or the Bayeaux Tapestry. There's still driving involved, but not as much as to Paris.

Nevertheless, I see no problem in taking a train into and back from Paris if the ship is docked late. Trains are reliable and reasonably on time in France, and you shouldn't need to make a reservation.

We have never been to Paris and possibly will not get back in the near future. I'm tempted to take a train into Paris and do a Hop-on/hop-off tour on our own. Depends on how complicated it is getting to and from the train and tour... Will have to find a site in english with the train locations and schedules.
