Would love feedback on 6 day itinerary in Maine
We would like to start in Bar Harbor for 3 days, then do 1 day in Camden, then 2 days in Boothbay Harbor or Portland. First question - Boothbay or Portland? Second question - is this itinerary doable, or will we have too much running around? We are a couple in our late 20s who want to relax, eat lobster and sightsee.
Any alternative itineraries are welcome....
Thanks.

If you have six nights, I'd recommend 3 in Bar Harbor (if that's where you want to spend the most time), 1 in Camden, 1 in Boothbay, and 1 in Portland. Camden, Boothbay and Portland are just over an hour apart, so you wouldn't really be running around too much.
But, you may want to consider taking a night off Bar Harbor and adding it to Portland, where there's more and better nightlife...

For relaxing and lobster, if the weather co-operates, go with Boothbay. Robinson's Wharf on the way to Southport is picnic-table takeout lobster, really fresh & downeast.....Andrew's Harborside & the Rocktide are good dinner houses.
In Camden, The Village Restaurant is a good lunch spot overlooking the water. Casual, seafood, home-cooking. Up the road apiece, The Lobster Pound in Lincolnville is another one of those fresh-off-the-boat picnic table lobster spots. So good!

Your itinerary sounds fine. It all depends on what you plan to do. For example, Boothbay is small and a morning would be enough unless you want to drive around exploring and/or take a boat cruise. Portland is a city and bigger. You could spend more time there or less. With our Maine vacations we usually spend a week at the same hotel or campground and then explore from there. You could make the Boothbay area a home base and visit Camden and Portland from there, for example. It's nice not to have to drag suitcases in and out of places. Our key to relaxing is bringing along some bag chairs, an insulated bag and binnoculars. My husband enjoys watching the ocean but I get a little antsy. I do a little reading and some ocean viewing, enjoy the sun and some cold ice tea. The Cellar Door Winery in Lincolnville, just north of Camden is off the beaten track. We enjoyed their view of the hills and vineyard and enjoyed a wine tasting. Bought a few bottles to enjoy after a hard day's sightseeing.
