The Wort Hotel is the nicest & best located hotel in Jackson. Been there forever & well maintained.

Outside of town the nicest ($$$$$$$$) are Spring Creek Ranch & the Amanjani, for the rich & famous. Great views, but not a terribly convenient location.

How nice to know the Wort is still there and - even better - well maintained! We stayed there on our first trip west....in 1967! And we still remember the "Silver Dollar Bar" downstairs. The upgrade must have come after us, however, as at the long-ago time of our visit, it was adequate but fairly down-at-the-heels . Enjoy!

X - a boat-load of $ has come into Jackson since 1967! Believe me, you might not recognize it.

I'm trying to decide between staying at the Wort Hotel or spending half the price and staying 1 mile outside of town at the Best Western Lodge at Jackson Hole. Obviously there is a difference in quality and location, and the price differential reflects this. My question is: is the Wort Hotel's central location worth the higher price, and is the Best Western's location inconvenient for accessing the town square area, restaurants, etc.
