Jackson Hole Hotels
Hi, Can someone recommend a hotel in Jackson Hole? We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 older teens) and are planning to stay in Jackson Hole both the first and last nights of our vacation. We are most likely looking at booking two rooms. Here is the plan:
Friday Morning - Arrive in Jackson from NY(early morning flight)
Saturday - Grand Teton - Jenny Lake Lodge
Tuesday - West Yellowstone - Holiday Inn Sunspree and visit to Yellowstone
Thursday - Brooks Lake Lodge - Dubois Wyoming
Sunday - need accomodation in Jackson Hole
Monday - fly back to NY
In Jackson Hole we think it makes sense to stay in town so we don't have to bother with finding parking and because we are only there for a short time. Any suggestions? So far we have come up with Trapper Inn, Ranch Inn or Painted Buffalo but they all get mixed reviews.
Thanks!
Susan

I can't really recommend a hotel for you since we just stayed at the Best Westerns when there, but the first time we went we did the same thing -- stayed in Jackson both the first and last nights. We were very happy with that plan. We were able to explore part of the Tetons the first day and also on the way back from Yellowstone. Jackson is a fun place also with the shopping and restaurants, especially with older teens. We stayed within walking distance of the town (actually in the town) and found that much more convenient than trying to find a parking place.

We stayed at the Painted Buffalo. Nothing fancy or special, but a decent place for sleeping....and it's at a convenient location for walking around Jackson.
(Incidentally, so as not to cause any confusion, "Jackson Hole" refers to the entire area. What you are talking about is "Jackson," which is the town itself.)

Hi Susan, on our first trip to Jackson we stayed in The Virginian. Older property but nice, fairly large pool. Had to drive to town.
In july 05 we stayed at The Ranch Inn and much preferred that location. Walked one block to the town square, a few blocks to the Alpine Slide and it also included a decent continental breakfast. For more details, here's the link to last year's trip report.

I think we stayed in the "Wort" hotel - an old, heritage hotel that was beautiful. The bar had hundreds of silver dollars imbedded in it. All told we were very pleased - we had a great rate, great food, and Jackson Hole was really a special place!!
