Winter rental?
Hello, we're a retired couple looking to rent a condo or house for January and February in a nice warm area. We would like the kids/grandchildren to be able to visit/stay for a week also. Is $2000/month not being realistic to find a place? I appreciate any input and advice from everyone. Thanks Randy

In the Southwest (S. CA, AZ or NM) or maybe in Florida? I suggest visiting the area you are interested in in October and staying in a motel and searching for just the right spot at the right price.

Check out airbnb.com. The airbnb site allows you to put in your budget and see what if anything is available. You may need to cut your time to one month to stay within your budget. You can probably find somewhere within your budget for two people, but the addition of grandchildren really bumps up the price!

It probably would be less expensive to rent a very small place and get hotel for family when they visit than rent a place big enough for all. For "nice warm weather" or beach weather, in the middle of winter, you really need to go as far south as possible. I visit West Palm Beach every winter to see family and it can be 60 degrees daytime.
