Winter rental?

Hello, we're a retired couple looking to rent a condo or house for January and February in a nice warm area. We would like the kids/grandchildren to be able to visit/stay for a week also. Is $2000/month not being realistic to find a place? I appreciate any input and advice from everyone. Thanks Randy

In my experience your budget is very unrealistic. You’d be hard pressed to find a furnished rental at that price for a week let alone a month.

It depends on where you want to be. I doubt you'll find a place by the beach in that price range.

In the Southwest (S. CA, AZ or NM) or maybe in Florida? I suggest visiting the area you are interested in in October and staying in a motel and searching for just the right spot at the right price.

I live IN South Florida and waiting until October to find a rental for January and February is not a wise decision if you want decent choices. But as I said, I only LIVE here.

Check out airbnb.com. The airbnb site allows you to put in your budget and see what if anything is available. You may need to cut your time to one month to stay within your budget. You can probably find somewhere within your budget for two people, but the addition of grandchildren really bumps up the price!

And tell the rest of us about ANY AirBnB property that is oceanfront for that price and for that long, too. Thanks.

The OP didn't say anything about having to be ocean front or even at the beach. They just said someplace warm.

It probably would be less expensive to rent a very small place and get hotel for family when they visit than rent a place big enough for all. For "nice warm weather" or beach weather, in the middle of winter, you really need to go as far south as possible. I visit West Palm Beach every winter to see family and it can be 60 degrees daytime.

Unfortunately that is our weekly budget for staying in the the Ft.Lauderdale/Miami area. I am sure you could do better moving a little further inland and maybe further north.

You might check in the North Port area (that's Gulf side of state).
