Actually, the Franzia family sold their rights to their name 30 years ago. The Wine Group formerly owned by Coca Cola owns the Franzia name.

Bronco Wine Company is now owned by the Franzias and they are the ones who produce 2 Buck Chuck.

Again, nothing here helps answer the original question posted by tinerbride9 (a truly horrible handle).

I just took a peek on the Charles Shaw wine bottle (I've never had a glass, personally) it does say "Cellared and bottled by Charles Shaw Winery, Napa, CA" on their label. ***kim***

"Cellared and bottled by" means that the wine was purchased from other producers but was given some kind of cellar treatment by the bottler.

"Napa" on the label just means that the bottler has an address in Napa (or PO Box). It has nothing to do with where the grapes were grown or the wine produced.

All premium wines in California have the phrase "produced and bottled by" on the label. And usually an appellation such as Napa Valley or North Coast, etc. California is the most generic appellation.

2 Buck Chuck has been a phenomenal marketing success but the wine is a total fraud since it is not made at any particular winery and has absolutely no relationship with the ex vintner Charles Shaw.

I'm sure Tinkerbride was not thinking of this wine when asking about the wine shop location.

Tinkerbride9 - I think you got more than you bargained for with this post but it is possible that you might be thinking of the "Sonoma Enoteca" which is right on the historic square in Sonoma. It carries a lot of different wines by local wineries and the first time I went to Sonoma, it was a fun place to taste wines from various places and get the lay of the land. It has decent prices compared to buying at the wineries but not like the discount stores such as TJ or bevo (or the wine club in SF which is the best). Unfortunately, there are many wine shops in Napa and Sonoma so good luck!
