wine and cheese pairing Napa Valley

We are planning a trip to Sonoma/Napa Valley in early October. We've gotten some great advice on wineries to visit from these forums. We'd like to do one special tasting/tour that pairs wine and cheese. Can anyone recommend a special tasting for us? It is our one year anniversary! Thanks for your help!

It isn't just cheese, but J does small wine & food pairings. Well worth the cost.

Try the Cheesemaker's Daughter in Sonoma (town) for some awesome recommendations. Buy the wine and have fun pairing!! There is also a cheese shop in Healdsburg that I am going to check out next week. I am sure they will have great ideas.

My husband and I do an annual cheese/wine party. This year, our goal is to try enough Sonoma county cheeses and wines on our Healdsburg trip that we can actually do a party centered on those cheeses/wines.

You'll love it in October, it is my favorite time to go. The harvesting is over so the crowds are minimal, the weather is great only a bit chilly and it is so beautiful. Most nice restaurants there will have food and wine pairings. Not sure about cheese and wine. I would go to a winery and just ask. I'm sure someone can recommend somewhere for you to go. Have fun.

i think that springhill cheese (now organic) is some of the best cheese made... the hard jack, portugese, and so many other favorites. i don't know if he still does tastings at the farm... you will need to call to see if they are open. it's really beautiful out there, though... a beautiful drive. if you can't taste there, be sure to go to a local grocery (like olivers or pacific) and buy some of his cheese. oh... and if you can score a bag of the cheddar curds... well, it's like cheese candy!!

check out the website wine country getaways -- I think they have routes for different wineries and probably have info on which have cheese pairings or small plate tastings.

"J" near Healdsburg offers a Terrace Tasting, I think $30 each that pairs three wines with 3 small plates, some cheese, some other stuff.

Yes "J" ! and please note that "J" is located in Sonoma county, not the Napa Valley. Sprinhill cheese is also located in Sonoma County, near
Petaluma

You might like to call Chalk Hill winery, also in Healdsburg and see if they have a cheese pairing. Its a fantastic winery, only open by appointment. Well worth it..

We were in Sonoma in July/August. By far, my favorite winery was Ferrari Carrano. We did a wine tasting of their Prevail wines - had a beautiful spread of cheese nuts, and the most fantastic wine. In fact, we drank a bottle last night that we brought with us. The lady who did our program was Brooke Drummond.

We also did J - which was nice - but I liked FC better. We also did Jordan, which would have been our second favorite. So in order - was Ferrari Carrano, Jordan and then J. We only did three - which seemed like alot - but we really like the private wine tasting. It is a great experience and you learn so much more - and get to taste the better wines. Have fun. (All of these were in Sonoma - our favorite!)

I should have clarified - that was cheese, nuts and fruits. (not cheese nuts - ha)
