Wine Country Lodging Heads Up!
I just booked a room at the Sonoma Mission Inn on www.winecountry.com for $169/night. They have many wonderful hotels in the Sonoma/Napa Valley going for excellent rates right now!
The Hotel Healdsburg is offering rooms starting at $205 and the Yountville Inn for $175/night! Hope some of you are able to take advantage of these great rates at some very nice properties in this area! ***kim***

Actually these rates are for next month, the last three times we've visited Sonoma in March I've been laying out by the pool!
I'm truly thrilled with my $169/night rate at the SMI! We'll be staying in the newly remodeled section. Cheers! ***kim***

Kim,
I've gone on to winecountry.com twice now to sign up for that $169/night rate you were talking about at the Sonoma Mission Inn and I haven't heard from them yet. HOw long did it take for you to get a reply? I was requesting the rate for April 3rd and 4th so thought it was too far off but I need to make reservations. Is there anyone you can call about the rate posted?
Thanks

March and April can be great times to be in the wine country. I think some of you are so intent on poopoo-ing anything Kim has to say you can't appreciate the fact that she's offering some useful info here.
I have taken some wonderful bikerides in Sonoma County in February. The fruit trees are blooming, mustard is out and it's not so crowded.
Texas Aggie, if you get out here you have to let me know!

Grasshopper, where do you suggest for the most scenic bike rides? Looks like our spring weather is finally here, I've been enjoying daily bike rides on my Del Sol beach cruiser and would love to take it on our wine country trip this month! ***kim***

Kim, I've done all my riding in Sonoma Co. Pick any road; Westside, Eastside, Dry Creek, Alexander Valley..... They are all lovely and meander through some great vineyard lands. My longest ride was from Healdsburg to Armstrong Redwoods and Back. Be really careful about tasting and riding. It's not a good idea. And watch for traffic. The roads can be narrow and not all drivers are proponants of "share the road".

G'hop,
Ever do the Tour of Napa Valley? Those guys put on a real nice ride.
Great BBQ and music afterwards.
3 routes...35, 65 and 100 miles.
BTW....I recall wearing shorts and a t-shirt some December-March days in NV/SV and even SF so go figger'.

G'hopp,
I tried the 65 miler one year....after a Friday night of post-softball beer and pizza and a Sat night B'day party, I pooped out half way up the Pope/Chiles Valley Road. Turned around and was doing about 50 mph down past Hennessey...by time I got back to the Y'ville Vets Home every muscle in my hips and legs were one big knot!
I guess they matched the BIG kot in my head for thinking I could do all of that after being so dehydrated for the prev 2 days.
