wine country for young married couple
Just curious if there are any suggestions for my husband and I who are both 29 and would like to be able to visit a few wineries and stay about 4 nights. We want to be able to see the sights during the day, but also have a nightlife. Any thoughts?

Nightlife is pretty tame in California, but Healdsburg has a few places which have music. Same for Santa Rosa. Maybe you could do 2 nights in wine country, open a bottle and hit the hot tub, then go to SF for some night life? Nights in many of the small towns (Napa, Sonoma, Geyserville, Calistoga) is pretty much a great dinner at the many fabulous restaurants and a lot of small bars where people mostly chat- a few have solo performers. It is smokefree, however. We're going in 2 weeks, I'll keep my eyes open for "nightlife". Another thought is to go for one of the many festivals held in certain places. There are tasting festivals, whale watching, Mustard, Barrel Tastings, Film Fests, etc yearly. Many of these have evening events.

While I can't say that there's a lot of nightlife, the Central Coast area of California might be an idea. San Luis Obispo is a college town and has some bars with live music in the evenings. There are a lot of wineries in the Paso Robles area, as well as down in the Santa Ynez area. Or you could stay in Santa Barbara - another college town and enjoy the Santa Ynez wineries during the day.
