I don't reside in the area, but have been visiting there for over 45 years, be happy to help if I can.

We are going to be staying in Topsail for two weeks and we usually do our shopping at WalMart but I just discovered there are several Harris Teeter stores and Food Lions in Wilmington. I like these two stores MUCH better than WalMart and plan on shopping there. I was wondering if you could tell me the BEST of each one to shop at...location etc...I'd rather drive a little further once we get into Wilmington to get to the BEST of these stores. I have the addresses of each store if you need me to list them for you. What I'm looking for is which Food Lion would be the nicest one to go to and which Harris Teeter would be the nicest one to go to.Thanks for your help !!!!

That I can't help you with, but as a rule I tend to like Harris Teeter a little better & that is where I shop here in CLT (of course they are based about 2 blocks away from my house). You'll not likely find a 'bad one' whereas w/Food Lion, you may. HT is a little higher end too me & their product selection should reflect that. You need to sign up for there VIC program online & w/Food Lion there MVP program. Typically I'll save 15-20% using those. Sorry I don't know the specifics.

The HT at the intersection of US17 (Market St.) and Porters Neck Rd. is excellent. The Food Lion right across US17 is terrible.

If there is a HT closer to Topsail it should be fine. Get fresh seafood at a seafood market, not at a grocery store.

For fresh vegetables, go to Eden's stand on US17 in Scotts Hill.

I don't get up to Topsail very often. Hopefully locals will chime in.

Which direction are you coming from ? There are also a couple of good peach & vegetable stands on 74.

We are going to be coming from Ohio and staying there for 2 weeks, so will probably make several trips to the grocery store, just like we do at home!!!! I already have their loyalty cards, since I've shopped there before while visiting friends in Fayetteville. I don't mind a drive, especially to find fruit and vegetable stands. This will be our 4th trip to Topsail, so I am a little familiar with the area. Will probably go to the Harris Teeter at Porters Neck. I spoke to my rental agent earlier she informed me that Topsail is getting a Harris Teeter in 2011, so that will be nice. Thanks for all of the tips so far !!!
