Cheap Eats in Kelowna???
We will be "treating" 4 friends in Kelowna. We'll be staying at a condo. Is there a good Chinese delivery place or another good take out place that we can use? I assume that would be the cheapest route? Any other suggestions?

Kelowna has more fast-food places in a more concentrated area (along the highway) than any other place I have ever seen bar none!
You won't have any trouble, but if you are really intent on ordering in, the Mekong should be able to help.
If you go to any supermarket along the strip, you should be able to pick up any kind of food you want for an at-home picnic.

Hi, There is a Costco on the corner of Hwy 33 and HWY 97 also the save on foods near Orchard park mall is pretty good. The Farmers market on the corner of benvoulin and springfield on wed and sat has great stuff. The Save on foods off lakeshore drive is being renovated and very dissapointing. The Sunshine market on lakeshore is great if you are down that way and need to pick up things

The Mekong has great Chinese food. You can do take out, or eat in, as the restaurant is quite nice.
Another one of our faves for Indian food is Samosas or Da Tandoor. Both are downtown and in the entertainment book as well.
For Mexican try Hector's Casa on Lakeshore.

Here is a link to the new entertainment book. You can browse all the options offered on line.

Not sure if you can still get a 2008 book, but if you can it should be cheap, as it has almost expired.
No winery stuff, but lots of golf in it.
Let me know if you need any other info, as I live in Kelowna.

Thanks..wondering Lynette if you have any other favourite "off the beaten" track restaurants. Needn't be expensive!
Anything else we shouldn't miss? We've got an extensive list of wineries to visit and are hoping to take in the Kettle Valley Steam Train. Any other recommendations? What can we expect of the weather in mid Sept? Sept 13-20 to be exact.

Kelowna Land & Orchard does a great apple orchard tour - with a fresh apple juice tasting after the tour and the opportunity to stay for a (not too badly priced) BBQ lunch. Here's a link:

Hey Canuckgal
I think Luna's suggestion of the Kelowna land and Orchard tour is a good one. The apple harvest is just getting started.
here are a few other options you might want to consider.
I hope you have a visit to Gray Monk on your schedule.

Located in the Lake Country/Winfield area. Nice restaurant and great views.
The best selection of BC wines is at the BC Wine Museum
http://www.kelownamuseum.ca/bc-wine-museum/index.html.
Staff is really helpful, and you can pick up stock from wineries you won't have time to visit. Downtown in the Cultural district, in the Laurel Building. The Orchard museum is also here. It is little, but a fun 20 minute visit. http://www.kelownamuseum.ca/bc-orcha...eum/index.html
If you like to hike...
The trestles at Myra Canyon have reopened this year. They were burned out in the fire, and have now all been rebuilt.

Now for the food.....
The bread company.... for breakfast of lunch
http://www.thebreadcompany.ca/
The view of the city from the Harvest Golf course is amazing on a clear day. They have a grill for lunch or a fine dining restaurant.

If you like Greek... Yamas Taverna
The Bohemian Cafe.... casual and funky
http://www.bohemiancater.com/
The Woodfire Bakery.... great for lunch. European style soup and sandwiches. Large portions. This place is always busy for lunch.
Hector's Casa for Mexican.
Earl's has great lake views.
Weather is starting to feel like fall.
Daytime temps this week is about 20C. Evening cool off, so layers are what you need now.
The Dragonboat festival is Sept 13-14 so there will be lots of activity at Waterfront Park.
Hope this helps.

OK, Between food and shopping, you have hit my 2 fave subjects.
We have all the mainstream retail stuff, but here are a few links to some of the boutique and specialty stuff that is worth checking out.
http://www.pandosyvillage.com/pandos..._shopping.html
These shops are on South Pandosy just before it becomes Lakeshore.
http://www.woodcreek-cottage.com/
Also in this area, in the Mission Park strip mall by DQ
Downtown stuff
Bernard Ave. main downtown street.
There is a good size Lululemon and Modern Country
There are lots of funky new shops on Ellis street, starting across from the Library, and head toward Prospera Place.
This is my favorite home dec store

You can also check out the local Farmers Market on Saturday morning for locally made stuff and produce.

In Peachland check out Bliss Bakery
