Shadyside or the Strip District; or Southside.

Shadyside would be the upscale version: strolling, shopping, people-watching, and neighborhoods, centered around Walnut Street.

Strip District is the wholesale district, great import stores and world-famous food from the markets, mostly stuff that you can eat out-of-hand. Try a sandwich from Primanti's, and fish from Wholeys, then taste the world's cheeses from the cheese market.

Southside is also supposed to be nice, but I don't know it as well.

If you really mean "pittsburg" (located in Kansas) I would suggest having a a chocolate Dr. Pepper at 1106 Drive In or the Steak Tips at Jim's Steakhouse.
