My family and I have reserved a room at the quarterpath Inn for a summer vacation to Williamsburg. We are looking for a cheap, clean, comfortable room that is close to the historical area. Could someone provide us with feedback on this place or suggest any alternatives?

I stayed a couple of years ago at the Williamsburg Woodlands. It was fairly inexpensive (although not the very cheapest lodging in Williamsburg), and was quite enjoyable. It is motel like in style (you enter your own room through a door leading outside) but the beds were extremely comfortable and the furnishings very tasteful--much nicer than what you would expect from the outside. It was right near a decent lodge-like restaurant and within the official lodgings of Willisamsburg, so it was very close to the historical areas. The area was kind of wooded (hence the name) and reminded me of camp--in a good way. Especially if you are on a budget, i would recommend it! Have fun; it's a nice place to visit.

I would recommend the Williamsburg Woodlands. not the cheapest place in the area, but fairly inexpensive and quite nice. Motel like in style but has very confortable beds and tasteful furnishings. Much nicer than it seems when you first drive up. Near a decent lodge style restaurant and close to all historical areas. If you are on a budget especially, I would highly recommend it. It is very wooded and kind of reminded me of camp--in a good way. Have Fun.

We stayed at a Quality Suites that was quite resonable. It offered a bedroom with 2 double beds , pull out sofa bed, refrig/counter area, extra sink/vanity area and a free breakfast that every breakfast imaginable and lots of it...even cooked to order eggs etc. The pool area wasn't the best but you may not care about that. The main stretch in Williamsburg has numerous places to choose from.

There is a Ramada Inn about 3 blocks from Wmsburg; clean, good pool.

The Captain John Smith Inn is inexpensive, not fancy, but nice. Very clean with a cute little pool. I'm a student at William and Mary and my parents like to stay there when they come to visit. Hope that helps.

we stayed at the Quarterpath several years back and I'd say it meets your description -- it was definitey cheap , clean, and comfortable enough (though minimal). It was super convenient -- and we walked to the historic area -- though, as the folks above point out -- it is nicer and even more convenient to stayed in the restored area if not out of your price range. Beyond the historic area there is LOTS of competition, so price shop.

My mother and I took my kids to Williamsburg on a long summer weekend. We decided it must be the Pancake House Capitol of America. Don't know why, but it seemed everywhere you looked was some sort of Pancake House.
