Why there is so much trash along the roads and streets in North, South Carolinas and Tennessee?

Okay, earlxx, I give... Not sure where you're from, but I think you might have a similar reaction if someone posted something like this about a place near you, especially if you hadn't observed something like that yourself. I hate seeing litter or road-side trash pretty much anywhere, had not noticed it the last 2 times I was recently in the mountains, once around Asheville, once around Boone. Glad you think it's beautiful, though. 'Tis. Y'all come back.

We have driven, frequently, *some* of the highways of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Hawaii, etc. I can honestly say that I've never noticed that any of those states is noticeably *trashier* than another one. (And I'm in the N. C. mountains a lot....) One thing I do remember is that when the deejay Don Imus came to Raleigh for some function, he went back and broadcast the next week about how many trees and flowers lined the highways/streets around Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, and that it was one of the prettiest, cleanest places he'd visited! (I agree....)
