lisettemac, my story is similar. When going to Portland this summer, I found a number of recommendations for Red Star (Scarlett's among them). After looking at their website I booked our reservation on Open Table. It wasn't until I studied the address later I realized it was in Fifth Avenue Suites where we were already booked. We enjoyed it greatly (except for the smokers at the bar).
Here in Naples, Florida there is little doubt among the locals that if you want really fine dining (and we have lots of very good restaurants) you can't beat either of the two Ritz Carlton's, the Registry Resort's Lafite, or LaPlaya's wonderful Baleen.
I said it last January and I'll repeat. The idea that hotel dining is poor is waaaaayyyyyy out dated.

There's a really pretty hotel here that's near a couple of theatres and concert halls and they have a very nice dinner menu where you can have your starters and mains and then come back after the theatre for dessert. Very civilized!
And room service -- omigod, don't get me started. I used to go to conventions and I'd check into the hotel the night before the convention started, register and get my stuff, go up to my room, get into my jammies and order a BLT and fries from room service. Then I'd eat dinner in bed and watch junk TV. Ahhhhh! Whatta life!
