white house tour

I have a white house tour scheduled while in DC and know you can't bring much in with you. Where can I put camera, etc. while on the tour?

I don't believe there is anyplace near the White House. We left everything in the hotel room and then went back to get it when we were done.

I tried and tried to find somewhere to store bags on our White House tour. There are no options that I could find. They used to have lockers at a few of the metro stops, but they stopped making them available after 9/11. We were going to Arlington Cemetary later that day, so we left everything in a van in the Arlington parking lot. (Unfortunately, our hotel was not very close to a metro stop). Best bet, leave everything at the hotel and go back for it. Don't even think about trying to bring something that isn't allowed. They were very strict and stuck to the rules absolutely.

Well, whatever you can or can't take with you, just consider yourself lucky that you can go at all. I'm in Washington fairly often and would love to take that tour but since 9/11, I'm not allowed to because I'm a foreigner (Canadian) and you can only do it through your congressman. Bummer.

Thanks, ita. I didn't know that but the most I could scrounge together on Washington trips would be 4 or 5. It's not a tour or anything like that -- just a personal visit.
