Hi folks--We're counting down our days til our trip to Maui in October. Just had a thought. We have a direct flight from DFW to OGG. On which side of the plane can we get the "best" views. It's not too late to change our seat assignments, so I thought I'd pose the question. Thanks for your help.

I'd say left side. As you approach Maui you should be able to see the Big Island off to the south. You will also be in position to look down the Hana Coast if it's not too cloudy.
You will make a 180 degree turn to get the nose into the wind and you'll see the west Maui mountains.

We went followed the "Maui Revealed" travel guide's recommendation of sitting on the left and they were right (no pun intended) - the view was amazing. And if you haven't gotten the book yet, you should - it's a great source!

It doesn't matter as in the case of NORMAL winds, you approach from the east (left side) circle over the west coast and then land to the east (usually bumpy!). Airport on the left side.
If there is a "Kona Wind" not common, but it happens, reverse the order.
Reminder: Maui is shaped like a woman:
The head is the north side, the neck the Kahalui (airport and valley) the "body" Wailea (West) Hana(east) etc. So....either side wins!. Go and have a great vacation!

Most of the time the wind blows thru the gap. The airlines don't want triaign winds. However, they come in and bank right. This provides a good view if on the right side of all the cane fields.

Thanks, everyone. I do have the MR book, but must have missed the gem about which side of the plane. I appreciate all the great help I get on this board.
