Does anyone else get "seasick" watching Conan? The guy is in constant motion either back and forth or side to side. I truly can't watch.

Well, I'm surprised no on has mentioned Johnny Carson. He set the bar way too high. I don't think there is anyone out there who could top his style and humor. His impromtu reactions and witty replies were just hilarious.

Letterman. I actually did go to a taping once and it was a lot of fun.

I like Conan too. However, I was a little disappointed in his antics when he came to Chicago a few months ago.

Neither - I'm a Jon Stewart/Daily Show & Stephen Colbert/The Colber Report girl. They are a whole lot funnier, plus I get to catch up on a little 'unbiased' news. Ha!

Hi Dreamer, John Carson has been mentioned in posts above yours. I still miss his shows. But I will now miss Leno when he retires from his show.

Been in the green room for Leno, and in the studio audience for Dave. Was bored to tears at both. An at Dave, I was freezing.
If you want a truly fun taping experience, go see Saturday Night Live Dress Rehearsal if you can get in. Fab.

I would go to New York and watch tapes of old Carson shows in my PJ's while ordering room service.

That's the more familiar envirionment for Late Night TV consumption!

are these dinosaurs really still around? talk about beating a concept to death. why on american television does everything go several years beyond its "sell-by" date?

travel_addict, I like Jon Stewart as well, AND he's handsome and classy ...

As for Conan, as I said above, occasionally he is so silly that he's hilarious, but I could never watch him every night as I do Jay. I just don't think he can fill those shoes! I'm glad to hear others' comments about Conan taking over ... my DH and I thought maybe we were just getting too old! Dreamer2, I DO know what you mean about his never standing still!

Maggi, I find Craig Ferguson funny, period. He can talk about a cheese sandwich, and his body language, and the way he laughs at his own silliness, cracks me up!

Yes, Johnny was great, wasn't he? Remember when he'd get on the floor with that blonde exercise instructor, Debbie somebody? Hilarious!

Thank you, LoveItaly, for your sweet thoughts!!! I'm hoping old Red Tide will stay away from where I want to go ...

Neither.

I'm alredy here in New York - so don;t need a trip. And have already been to LA several times and have no desire to repeat the experience.

If one of them were someplace I haven't been yet - Seattle perhaps - then I would prefer to see Letterman.

Conan is not clever the way Carson was and Leno is. I don't even laugh when watching him. Headlines and Jaywalking are great.

Samschack, thank you SO MUCH for that article! I had checked out the state reports yesterday, but it's good to hear about the new site that's being opened to give more current updates from the lifeguards. My DH and I really plan to wing it, go where the spirit moves us and the Red Tide ISN'T, between Tarpon Springs and Sanibel ... We've never done a trip like this before but it should be fun! Thanks again ... Fodors people are the best!

Man I must be old. I'm hardly ever awake late enough to watch either. But I'd rather see Dave, because that means I could go to NYC.

Letterman fan here. And I find Conan very funny. Craig Ferguson seems painfully unfunny to me. Humor is really subjective.

Jon Stewart is the best I think.

OK, I'll give away my age here. Johnny Carson may have set the standard too high as others have said, but it was Jack Parr who started the standard.

Ill really show my age. I can remember as a very small child getting to stay up late sometimes when parents watched Steve Allen. Some of the funniest people in television came out of that show. Loved Jack Parr too...he always had such interesting, quirky people on.

travel_addict - I like Stewart as well. If I had cable, I'd be a regular watcher.
