which place to stay at Bryce
I have been doing some research and plan to spend 2 or 3 night at Bryce but can't seem to find the perfect place to stay. In early October not knowing if a pool would be necessary might be a factor if it's hot during the day. Want a clean, peaceful place to stay and hoping not to pricey. Has anyone stayed at Best Western Ruby's Inn, Bryce Valley Inn in Tropic,Bryce Pioneer Village, Bryce View Lodge. Our preference is to be close to the entrance but would sacrifice that for a nicer room a short distance away from entrance. Looking for any info on hotels in Bryce.
thanks,
mimi and Moe

I am assuming you are just starting to research Bryce, since average high temperature is 57 and average low is 27 for October - so I think you can forget about the need for a pool.
While the search feature on this board has been a lot weird lately, there has been discussion here about Bryce lodging options. One place you have not listed is the Bryce Canyon Lodge - in the National Park. Reservations can be accessed thru xanterra.com - and when I just check there are some vacancies for later in October, but you may catch a cancellation earlier in the month if you check back - that would fit the peaceful and clean requirement.
As far as finding the perfect place to stay - that really does not exist around Bryce. Accomodations are more basic than in many places. Ruby's is fine - nothing great - just a big multi-building sprawling motel. But it is the closest to the Park entrance and in October will likely be fairly quiet.
Tropic is about 15-20 minutes from Park entrance and is a tiny town with 3-4 public buildings, a few inns and 2 restaurants that we could find.
Have a good trip - we loved Bryce.

Pool? You are there to swim?
Try Bryce Canyon Pines as well. It has a heated pool. Close to the park entrance and not as hokey as Ruby's.
It also has several types of rooms.
The motel type units in the park itself are spacious, but they don't have a pool. Sometimes you get lucky and catch a cancellation. The cabin units usually are full through mid October if not later. But people do change their minds.

For me there is no choice. My first attempt would be to get one of the little cabins IN the park at Bryce Canyon Lodge. I've stayed at Ruby's when we COULDN'T get into the Lodge, and it was OK, as I assume most of the others are -- but for the real experience I'd do everything in my power to stay at the Lodge (cabins).

I haven't stayed at Ruby's Inn, but my grown children did while we were at the campground and we visited their room. There is a large inside pool so the cool October temps won't matter.
Justme22,
My kids grew up without TV on vacations because we were always camping. They survived very nicely and we always went away for 2 to 5 weeks at a time!

utahtea, i know, but some folks are surprised that there is no tv in a lot of the motels out west and its good to know in advance. hopefully everyone is too tired from a great day to even think about it. when i was a kid we were mostly on a boat all day fishing and crabbing. after all that fresh air it was then bath and bed!

Stayed at Rubys. Truly nothing special. Just a place to sleep. I think it's next to an area where they park trucks? I seem to recall seeing that. Also tons of buses.
Stay in the Lodge in the park. I remember thinking we'll stay there next time.
