Can only comment on Ohana Waikiki Towers
(formerly Outrigger Waikiki Towers)
200 Lewers St. Stayed there last --Mar02 + numberous other times.
I ask for room on 10 or 11 floors front (facing street) Get a peek-a-boo
view of ocean.
Enjoy the open garden atmoshere of the outside cafe/dining area.
Cannot comment on the queen size bed request.
Adequate facilities ( would rate at 2-3 star level) Older property, but well maintained.
Parking limited....usually have to park in garage at Ohana Reef....across the street....cost is $10 day (if memory is correct)
Close to walk to Waikiki Beach...via
Outrigger Reef on the Beach.

No way could a family of four fit into a room at the Royal Islander. I have stayed there 4-5 times, always traveling solo and I thought the rooms were too small even for one person, LOL! The rooms I stayed in either had 2 twins or one queen. The bathroosm are miniscule. I was paying $45 a night (kama'aina rate) so I didn't care how small the room was. But it would not be fun for a family vacation!
Great location. Terrible parking situation.

You'll have to go by the hotel about beds; I'm taller and never had a problem. Long, long ago I had what may be the perfect room for you in the Waikiki Tower, if things haven't changed.
For some reason they upgraded me to a kitchenette room on the corner away from the sea and facing the street. It was huuuuuge and best of all had fantastic cross-ventilation with all the windows and doors on 2 sides - no a/c needed to grind away. Interesting activity to see on the streets.
The elevator for this particular tower was sort of embedded in an Irish bar - kind of strange and a party rather than family atmosphere. A bit run down - I think those Ohana's are slated to be radically rehabilitated.
