Which Marriott in D.C.?

I was looking for some advice on which Marriott to stay at in D.C. The Renaissance Mayflower and the JW Marriott are not an option. We would like to be near the Metro and also have a little nightlife around us.
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The Marriot at Wardman Park in DC is a great hotel that is on the Adams Morgan/Woodley Park Metro stop. It is also within walking distance to dozens of restaurants and off course the nightlife scene of Adams Morgan on 18th Street. This is the perfect pick.

I've stayed at the Wardman Park Marriott several times, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Washington Marriott, 1221 22nd Street NW, is an easy walk to the Dupont Circle metro, as well as the bars and restaurants in the area. There's also a Courtyard on Connecticut Avenue across from the Hilton and a Residence Inn, I think, on P Street. Both are also Marriott properties.

This is a tough one. A Marriott in DC near the Metro? What about The Metro Marriott in DC? Not as much nightlife as the "Madams Organ" district but there are a few nice places that are nearby.

The Marriott Residence Inn on P street probably has the best combination of Metro access (2-3 blocks to the red line at Dupont Circle station) and nightlife.
Marriott Metro Center has better access to all the metro lines, but is no match for the Dupont Circle area at night.

Hi Pam,

The Residence Inn at Dupont Circle or the Marriott on 22nd Street are the best 2 choices. Of these two, the Marriott on 22nd is a better hotel but the Residence Inn is a great location. You can walk from the Marriott on 22nd in about 10-15 minutes.

I have stayed in all the Marriotts in DC with the exception of the Washington Maarriott in Georgetown. Wardman Park is my favorite. The metro is right there and there is a long row of restaurants directly across the street. It's in a neighborhood and a very nice one at that. The Marriott Metro Center is fine too. Actually the Crystal City Marriott is nice too. The metro is right in the basement.

I understand about the Wardman Park recommendation - it certainly is right next to the Metro and it also has perfectly good nightlife and food choices. But the hotel is not up to the price. They also attempted a year ago to add an "energy charge" per room to our conference attendees with pre-negotiated rates. This at a time when the rack rate turned out to be slightly below the negotiated rate as well. It's an OK hotel inside, not a great one, with admittedly a great location. I'd suggest something near Dupont Circle is evne better.
