I went to Maui and Oahu for my honeymoon back in 1999. I liked Maui more because it felt like you were in Hawaii and not just another city surrounded by beaches. I live in San Diego now so I know beaches. Maui is so much more relaxing and laid back.

Re: good fine and wine, we found that to be true on Maui. David Paul's in Lahaina was excellent, as is Nick's Fishmarket. We didn't like Roy's, which I know some others recommend. Otherwise, Maui was a bit busy for us. We loved Kauai, stayed at the Hyatt in Poipu. We thought Kauai and Maui was a good combination, at least for us, but I'm looking forward to trying the BI, too.
