Any not to miss spots driving from Pittsburgh to Falling Water?

In a couple of weeks I am going to Pittsburgh and will be driving to tour Falling Water. Can anyone suggest places to stop along the route? I am also open to suggestions of any natural/outdoor worthwhile stops.

Are there any restaurants between Pittsburgh and Falling Water that would be great to go to? Breakfast? Lunch? Or should we plan to eat in Pittsburgh instead?
Thanks very much.

There is a very good restaurant (several actually) on the grounds of the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. It's called The Caddy Shack and is great for lunch or dinner. I'm not sure about breakfast. They also have a nice caf at Fallingwater.

I would eat breakfast in Pittsburgh, as most good places are almost at Fallingwater and I think you would be better off having lunch or dinner in that area.

The Old Stone House on the National Road has good meals.

There is a battlefield on the National Road but I can't remember the name.

Youghigheny Dam and Rapids are close by. Hiking trails, too.

The River's Edge in Confluence is great, but it closes for the winter at the end of October.

Nemacolin has fantastic food as well.

Here is the website for the Stone House Inn - we stop there for a bite every time we are in that area, but be aware that the last time we stopped, they were not open until 4pm and I believe that was on a Saturday. http://stonehouseinn.com/

The battlefield mentioned above is Fort Necessity: http://www.nps.gov/fone/

Info on Nemacolin Woodlands http://www.nemacolin.com/site_map.asp but I want to direct your attention to the classic gun museum adjacent to Nemacolin and somehow affiliated with the resort (the museum is named after - and presumably run by - the son in law of the Nemacolin founder. It's small and can be seen in an hour or so, but is really quite attractive and interesting. http://www.woodlandsworld.com/retail_gunMuseum.asp
