Which hotel on Kauai with kids

2 adults & 3 kids (9,12,16yrs) visiting kauai October 2006. I would like to stay around 250.00-300.00/nt for 2 bedroom condo, it seems no one will let us in a 1 bedroom. Choices so far are Kiahuna Plantation, Kauai Beach Villas or Poipu Kapili. Any suggestion, one of these or open to other recommendations.
Would love the Marriot Club vacations - but they are just to much at 434.00/nt. I read some people get them at a good deal, don't know how.
Thanks

Kiahuna Plantation has a great beach. Poipu Kaplili is nice but not on a beach. They are across the street from the ocean but a low rock wall protects you from falling onto the rocks below.

I've stayed at Poipu Kapili several times. It is a 5min walk to Poipu Beach. You can rent boogie boards, etc at the beach although some rental units have them. There are also surf lessons right there. The 2 bdrm deluxe or superior condos give you great ocean views from the master bedroom and living room. The street in front is small but there is some traffic on it. The seawall is nice to go out have a sit and watch the sunset, surfers and turtles. They are spacious, about 1900 sq ft. Kiahuna is right on that beach, but the my understanding is that the 2 bdrms are set back, garden views. I don't know the Kauai Beach Villas. There is the new Mariott vacation club on the other side of Kahuna, also walking distance to Poipu Beach and Poipu Beach Park. It is a timeshare. Try calling them and see if you can get a better rate by sitting through a timeshare presentation.

To save some $$, try to rent a Kiahuna unit through the owner instead of through Castle or Outrigger.

vrbo.com lists some 2 bedroom units and so does:

Poipu Sands is also a great choice in that price range for a 2BR. Some even have ocean views. Check out www.poipusands124.com for an example of an owner direct rental.

Hmm, I wouldn't want to be a a 1BR with that crew count !!
Try www.suite-paradise.com , they manage lots of units in the Poipu area. We rented a 2/2 "Garden View Xtra deluxe" from them in 2004, it was huge (Manualoha section of Poipu Kai), about 1700 sq ft, couple of hundred yards from the beach, about $1000 for the week, probably higher now (be sure & check online rates w/discount).
