Which car rental company ...

Which U.S. car rental company allows the renter to select from a block of cars in a certain range?

I've asked this question before but I've not been able to locate my previous post.

Thanks

you mean once you get there? Enterprise usually allows this.

Yes, upon arrival.

I remember going out to the lot at the ABQ airport and being allowed a choice of 10 or so cars that fit within the price/size range for which I had paid but am drawing a blank which company gave that option.

Yes, I read your response. I answered your question in my previous post.

Thank you for your suggestion of Enterprise but believe that there may be others. Unfortunately, Enterprise is one of the highest priced at the time I'd like to rent so I'm checking for options.

Try also looking at Hertz.

If you happen to be in a town that is served by them, try
Rent-A-Wreck. Their prices are cheap in comparison and the cars are decent.

National does--at least where we've rented from them.

I think Thrifty also lets you select from a block of same-level cars in their lot.

(Last year I had to rent regularly from Dollar at FLL, who did not work this way. On one instance, Dollar had me go to the Thrifty lot instead, and my colleague and I got the last Ford Fusion - the two guys hot on our heels ended up with some boxy thing, a Scion or Honda Element or something!)

Thanks for the additional suggestions. Being short, I always like to pick a well fitting car.

I've seen that it varies from location to location, although National has always let me choose. And Enterprise where I've rented has never given me a choice (granted I have only rented from them at a few locations).

Alamo and National are the same company. I had an Alamo reservation in LV but we had to go through the National cars to get to Alamo. We picked a National car which had less than 1K miles when we took it. Loved that new car smell.
We got the best deal bidding on Priceline.
