Most Convenient Car Rental Company at Honolulu Airport
Hi, I can never remember which car rental companies are right on the airport lot, and are within the easiest walking distance of baggage claim. Avis, Budget . . . ? I'll be traveling with someone who needs to keep walking to a minimum. Can anyone help out? Thanks!

Most car rentals are right outside the baggage pick up. You might have to walk a bit down the sidewalk to catch the bus to take you to their car rental building. One can go get the car and the other can wait cubside with luggage....their airports are not that confussing to get around...don't make it any harder for yourself than you have to. jjj

Sorry if this is a double post -- my earlier one never appeared . . .
Thanks for your replies. I've done this several times and realize they're all pretty easy. However, there is one kiosk that is the closest to the door you walk out of at baggage claim, and I was trying to remember what car rental agency occupied it. I rented from them a few months ago, so maybe I can dig up my old receipt. There is also one well-known company that does *not* have cars on-site, and I wanted to make sure and avoid them.

All of the car rental companies have sales desks in the baggage claim area of HNL -- but you'll still have to catch one of their shuttles to pick up your car.
You might want to have your travel companion wait for you on one of the benches just outside the baggage claim area while you go get the car. Return for picking up, is well-posted and easy to do.

You are talking about Honolulu Airport, right?
I fly in and out of HNL about 8 times per year, always needing to rent a car while I'm on O`ahu.
No car rentals are "right on the airport lot". Some are closer to the airport than others, but there are none within easy walking distance anymore. Blame it on 9/11...

I looked down and saw Avis, Budget, and Hertz in the lot that is attached to HNL parking. There were a few others, but I couldn't read their signs. o-) (I need new glasses!)
This is not really comfortable walking distance with bags.
Alamo is about 3 blocks away...but only about 2 minutes further.

the above message should have started with " I was at the airport today and as I drove away on the freeway, I looked down..."
Took me 6 tries to get it to post, and then it cuts off the top..
These days are not good for posting!
