Which Atlanta Hotel?

Weekend mini vacation in September to Atlanta. I have never been. My boyfriend and I have narrowed it down to two hotels: The Georgian Terrace Hotel or Grand Hyatt in Buckhead. We will see a game on Friday and do tourist things the remainder of the weekend. Which hotel would you choose? Thanks!

Since it sounds like you'll be doing some activities downtown, I'd stay at the Georgian Terrace. It's supposed to be beautiful and have lots of character since it is an older hotel. Very easy access to restaurants and I75.

The Grand Hyatt in Buckhead is a newer hotel. It's very nice, the room I had was one of the largest hotel rooms I've ever had, but it may not be that way in every room. There's a nice pool with an outdoor pool bar and a nice garden. It's easy to get a taxi from there to nearby attractions. However, it's expensive to get a taxi into downtown ($20).

The Georgian Terrace is an older property, closer to town and a very nice place also. It's directly across the street from the Fabulous Fox Theater where there are always great plays. It will be much cheaper to taxi into town from there than in Buckhead.

Buckhead is a nice part of town, there are many many upscale places to eat, it's where you see what I would describe as the younger crowd. There is an area there with many nightclubs all together where you can walk back and forth between them. Also, the shopping is nice and there are two great malls near the Hyatt, Lenox and Phipps Plaza. However, it is out of the downtown section of Atlanta. Good luck and hope you enjoy staying in Atlanta. You will be pleased with your decision either way.

The Georgian Terrace is a gorgeous hotel! They just re-opened a couple of years ago after multimillion dollar renovations.

Hope this is not to late and helps.

I happen to work 1/2 block from the GA Terrace. Our company uses it for business regularly and our associates that stay there love it. It is across the street from the Fox and MARTA station. Marta is Atlanta's metro rail that can get you to most leisure activities, Buckhead, and shopping. You should get a great deal by directly booking with the hotel. The area is pretty nice. I am comfortable walking to resturants along Peachtree for dinner with coworkers or to meet friends in the evening and at night after work.

Hope this helps.
