We are 2 moms and 2 daughters planning to go to an American Girl Place in March for the girls' 8th birthdays. Can anyone help us decide which location to go to - Chicago or New York. Also,any suggestions on a hotel would also be appreciated! Thank you.

Where are you coming from? Are you going to do other things?
The one in chicago is very nice. Have been there 3 times with my daughter. We spent all day there doing the tea room, the shows and shopping. It is near other shopping for mom!
The Intercontinental is quite nice and has a package deal with Am. Girl Doll Pl. It has an indoor pool and is in walking distance.
The Rain Forest Cafe is in walking distance which is fun for th elittle ones.
Shed's Aquarium is great and the Navy Pier.
Make it easy on yourself. It is a relatively short cab ride from Midway Airport.

Bring lots of money!!!! HAve fun!

We'll be coming from the southeast, so neither is very close. We'll be there probably 3 days, so we'll be doing a few other things, but not alot. What did you mean by "topping for Gertie"? Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

I have been to both AG stores. They are similar inside but, in my opinion, the NY store is in a much more exciting area.

Vivi, what do you mean by a more exciting area? Are you talking about NYC as a whole or just the part of town its located in? Also, is March an okay time to go? I'd prefer to avoid the most crowded times.
