Which airports really do have long lines?

Flew Tuesday morning from BWI to Columbus. Long lines for check in and security. Needed every minute of the 2 hours we'd allowed, in fact we were removed from the security line and sent up front. Plenty of information and they don't let you miss the flight. The Southwest line was much shorter by the time we'd checked in, I think we arrived at a busy time.
Returned from Columbus Friday evening, much more security but no lines. Flight was 2 hours late because of weather delay but that's another story...

I flew over the most recent holiday weekend (Columbus Day) and Dulles was a madhouse. I waited in various lines for at least 75 minutes. I actually needed that two hour check-in time. O'Hare and Cincinatti were both empty. It took only 15 minutes to check-in and go through the security line in Chicago.

Congrats to security at Columbus, Ohio...I was searched there yesterday for the first time since Sept 11 ( I have flown 12 segments since Sept 11). There were no lines in security at Columbus nor in Cincinnati. I did encounter a 45 minute line in Providence Monday morning. Staff there says every Monday AM is a long line.

My husband has flown 8 times since 9/11 - no problems except at Logan (Boston) this week. over 1 1/2 hrs to clear security - they kept pulling people out of line to allow them to catch their flights (this was on a Monday morning, peak travel time). All other times he has arrived very early and spent his time cooling his heels at the gate.

I appreciate this information, but at the same time, am concerned that dissemination of information like this could be a security risk. Seeing which airports have National Guard, which ones are searching cars, and more comments about procedure are probably best not talked about on a public forum in my opinion (I'm sure people will flame me for this, but I'd rather err on the side of being overly cautious and just show up earlier than I would otherwise).
