Where to stay in San Diego with kids?

We will be in San Diego probably from July 5 to July 9. We want to go to Sea World, Animal Park, the San Diego Zoo. We'll probably buy the 3 for 1 tickets where you can see all three parks for a discounted rate. We'll also go to the beach.

My question is: Where do you recommend that we stay in San Diego? Which area? Which hotel? We'll have a mini van with us.
We plan on reserving a double bed room but I'm not sure where we'll stay. Obviously, free parking would be nice to have but I'm also thinking that staying within walking distance from the beach would be convenient for us as well.

Thanks in advance!

if you want discount lodging check the hotel circle area, there are a lot of motels there and all would be 10-15 minutes to the places you want to see.

you didn't mention a price range so if you want more upscale i would recommend shelter island.

I would try to stay on Shelter Island. Either the Bay Club or the Best Western. Minimal parking charges, convenient location and right across from the Harbor.

For beach access, check out hotels on Pacific Beach or Mission Beach. Some hotels on Mission Bay are also within walking distance of Mission Beach. All three areas are quite close to Sea World and not too far from the Zoo. The Wild Animal Park is more than an hour away from the other two attractions, near Escondido.

stay one night in Animal Park or Zoo. Roar and snore program is what they call it at both places I believe.

I would look around Shelter Island and Humphrey's Half Moon Inn might be a good pick with kids.

I think hotel circle is your best bet, better rates, away from traffic, very close to both sea world and the SD Zoo, but it is always a drive up to the wild animal park.
