WHERE TO STAY IN SAN DIEGO AREA

Husband and I are taking our daughter to San Diego for long weekend over her b-day in August (she will be 15). Looking for a resort'ish place to stay - but close to activities, not too expensive ... any suggestions? (MUST HAVE GOOD POOL) Thanks!

What does not too expensive mean? Can you give a price range?

Will you have a car?

Does resort'ish mean -- on the beach, luxury, wooded, secluded???

A bit more info will help.

Also, check this out for different areas to stay:

What "activities" do you want to be close to?

i think expensive is key to knowing where to stay, but you will save money and have a wonderful time by staying put at the Hotel De Coronado. They have a special right now, stay one night, get the second night for 40% off.

Everything you could possibly want is here. A private beach and cabanas, a great place to get a hair cut (Feng shui style, ask for a $65.00 stylist, they are great too!)

Bon fire pits for a beach and water front beach fire...

Great food (small bites or nice dinners)

Music during the day and night. Go. . .

sorry I should have thought of that -
I am thinking near the bay or beach;
Under $225/night
we will have a car - but being able to walk to dining, shopping is nice
