Where to spend next winter?
We have so enjoyed Hawaii! But now only have a few days left. I have found that in order to get Jan and Feb, now is the time to reserve. I can't spend as much next year as we did this year so please make some suggestions for me to check. I would like to drive to keep costs down or a cheap airfare from Cleveland. Any towns specifily that you have been to that we can explore? We want to be oceanfront and prefer 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Mexico? Puerto Rico? South Florida? Southern California? Thanks for any info!

Akumal, Mexico.
Two bed,two bath condo right on the beach for much less than you'd pay in Hawaii. Fly into Cancun, hire a car and Akumal is less than 2 hours from the airport.
We've stayed at Vista del Mar, Las Iguanas and La Sirena on different trips.
Vieques, Puerto Rico is also lovely in January/Feb. Great beaches but very very little true oceanfront accommodation although you can overlook the ocean, rent via VRBO. Lots of American owners (continental US)so easy transactions.

cd, I've considered Rincon but the beaches attract surfers so I imagine it's not ideal for swimming and not good for snorkelling either.
I prefer the vibe of the quieter more laid-back islands off the coast of Puerto Rico. I'm thinking about Culebra for a winter break.
Vieques is lovely. It has calm bays, good snorkelling and we've always been able to find a deserted beach.
