Where to park car for a week at Atlanta airport?
Hi, folks! I'll be driving up from Florida, then flying Delta out of ATL to CDG. Have never been to ATL and do hope I won't get totally lost.
Where would be the safest and most affordable parking facility in which to leave my car for a week?
I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions you may be able to provide!

Your best bet is to use the Park-Ride lots at the airport. We use the lots when we are going away for a week or more - they are the most reasonable. A shuttle will take you to your terminal, and upon your return, you can pick up the shuttle at Ground Transportation. The website for the airport is atlanta-airport.com. Have a great trip.

I usually pick one of the off airport locations located along Camp Creek Parkway. The parkway is also the entrance to the airport.
The parking companies provide covered parking, if that is important, and they operate shuttles to the west entrance.
They pick you up at your car and return you to it when you return. They cost a little more per day than the cheapest parking, but the vans picking up passengers are also a means of patrolling the lots, which are fenced.
There is usually long term parking at the Atlanta airport, but there are times that finding a place is difficult.
In terms of the most affordable, for a long trip, I leave my car at a Marta lot located north of Atlanta at the Dunwoody station. It is $3.00 per day and covered. The train takes you to the airport in about 40 minutes.
It all depends on the convenience you want.
Another way is to stay overnight at one of the motels that have a shuttle service to the airport. You can usually work out a deal to leave your car there and take the shuttle. I have done that, but the problem is with very early or very late needs to use the shuttle.
I have tried all three ways, and usually I use Marta if the trip is over 2 weeks. If only 3 or 4 days, I usually use Park and Go.
There is a discount coupon you can print out on line that give you a free day. I use this particular lot because it is convenient to I 285 west, which is my quickest way out and home.
If you are coming up from Fla on I 75, the beltway, I 285 is easy to get, and it leads to Camp Creek which is to the west.

Thank you both for your helpful replies.
Bob, I see what you mean about the difficulty of finding on site parking. According to the useful airport website provided by 1scs1, two of the three Park Ride lots are "Temporarily Closed".
Is this not unusual at ATL?

I don't know the answer. This past year, because of using frequent flier miles, we used Charlotte. From where I live, gate to gate time between the two is not much different, plus we have friends in Charlotte who kept our car for free.
In July we were gone for a while and used the Marta lot at Dunwoody and rode the train down. That saved us about $100.
Therefore, I am not all that current on airport lots in Atlanta.
In a few days I fly out again, and I plan on using Park and Go, or possibly Park and Fly. It depends on which one of several of those lots is offering the best discount coupons.
I will check in about a week and see which one has the best deal.
Being dropped at your car is worth a little in my opinion. And the walk from the baggage claim area to the end of the building is very short. I particularly like the shuttle service when it is late at night.

I like the "Parking Spot" off Camp Creek. They have covered and uncovered parking and I think the uncovered is about $6-7/ day. The buses/vans are bright yellow with black spots. The drivers help you load your bags on and off. And, I became a very loyal customer when I realized my wallet was not in my bag at check-in at a Tampa hotel. I had no idea where it was and notified all my credit cards. The Parking Spot driver found it, turned it in with ALL the cash intact from a recent ATM withdrawal. Needless to say, I'm VERY happy with the Parking Spot!

5% off coupon on their website - www.theparkingspot.com
And, how could I forget? They give you a cold beverage of choice (sodas or water) as you pay at departure. A nice extra touch - water, lemondade or Coke for the road!

Croque_Madame, parking at the present time is most unusual at the Atlanta airport. They are in the midst of construction and literally are tearing up the lanes immediately outside the terminal doors. For quick trips, I often park at the adjacent parking decks but after the last episode, will NOT until construction was completed. Navigating the construction zone defied all common sense. Basically, "you couldn't get there from here". Do take a shuttle service that will drop you off right at the door...or as close to the door as the construction will allow.

It is very unusual that two of the parking lots are temporarily closed. We have never had a problem finding a parking spot there, as you are directed to the available spaces when you arrive. Park-Ride does pick you up right at your car and drop you off there again, but typically they do not help you with your luggage. All of the shuttle vans are in the same location at ground transportation right outside of baggage claim - in that sense, one is not better than the other.
You really may want to consider the Camp Creek Parkway lots for your trip because of the lot closures at the airport.
