Where to go?? Please help.

Hello, this is my first post on this website. I have read most of the posts and still can't make a decision. I am planning a special mother-daughter trip to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday the second week of September. I would like to take her to a hotel that is right on the beach, a good spa in the hotel or nearby, walking distance to restaurants and shopping area (don't want to bother with renting a car), and overall a relaxing atmosphere, but not boring. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you.

I don't know what part of the country you are travelling from or how far you want to travel, but my suggestion would be the Hotel del Coronado in San Diego.

As I would probably vote for somewhere in Hawaii I decided to try to find out where "sixty" selected to place her post in the topics section. I found that she used Florida as her topic so the Hotel Del is out and so is Hawaii!

Sixty, if you *are* specifically looking in Florida only, you MUST mention it either in the title of the query (PREFERABLE) or somewhere in the body of your post. Since these dump into a broad "United States" board, if you don't give some explicit guidance of some kind, you'll get people spinning their wheels with great suggestions that you're not interested it. Like, say, the Hotel del Coronado in beautiful San Diego. I was going to recommend the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point or the Montage in south Laguna Beach, but you'd probably need a car. And they aren't in Florida.

You may want to re-post with a more descriptive title. Just a tip.

The Aventura-Spa Palace in the Mexican Maya Riviera is perfect. It's all-inclusive and there's no reason to leave!

I think the Adventura Spa Resort is geared more to couples than mother-daugter.

What about Key West? You certainly don't need a car if you stay in Old Town. The Hyatt and Ocean Key Resorts are very nice. Key West is definitely not boring!
