Where to go end of Sept???
I want to take a vacation at the end of September that is super relaxing. Originally wanted to cruise Alaska, but heard its frozen by that time. Then was thinking of caribbean, but that's huricane season. Am I doomed to not take a vacation at this time? Any suggestions? warm or cold weather - as long as its relaxing (no european walking tours, etc) and not TOO pricey. thanks for ANY suggestions

Where are you traveling from. That makes a big difference. Check out a trip to Vancouver/Whistler/Victoria, Canada or maybe fly to Calgary, rent a car and drive up to Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper. If on East Coast then fly to Quebec City for a few days. Amelia Island, Florida is outstanding. Travel to Charleston, Savannah or Sea Island. Santa Fe, NM is nice and so is Colorado. Fly to Denver, rent a car and drive up to Aspen/Vail for a few nights. I went to Alaska in August and it was gorgeous. Why worry about hurricanes. Your day will come so quit worrying. Jump on a plane and go to Bermuda, Grand Cayman, St. Thomas or any caribbean island. It's low season in September. Go to Los Cabos.

Go to Big Sur. It's the best time of the year. You can even go in the ocean and not freeze to death.
If you're on a budget, find a cabin in Pfeiffer Park. If not, stay at Ventana or the Post Ranch Inn.

For relaxing and easy on the budget, try North Shore of MN. Leaves should just be turning. Beautiful coastline, great small towns and state parks. See www.northshorevisitor.com

You can fly non stop to Bermuda. It's one of the finest Caribbean stops I know of. If not drive up through Up State NY through Albandy, Burlington to Quebec City. The food in QC is outstanding. You can drive up the St. Lawrence about 150 miles to Malbie and enjoy yourself there. Fly down to Charleston/Savannah. Great food and lots to see and do. Good luck.

I think the end of Sept. is a gorgeous time of the year. You can try Aruba it is outside of the huricane belt. Or Bonaire, or Curacco. If that is to far or pricey how about cape cod, Martha Vineyards, crowds will be gone. Block Island or head north to the Catskills. Leaves will be changing and it will be so nice. Take a leaf peeping vacation. If you are up to it, go to Bermuda and take a chance that there will not be a huricane at the time. Or you can go to North Carolina along the coast line there. Any or most beach crowds will be gone by then. Hilton Head, or Myrtle Beach. Head on down to Florida, Fort Lauderdale, or Miami.

Late September, early October is the most beautiful time in the Southwest.
Come to ABQ, Santa Fe, Taos in NM and , Durango, Telluride, Ouray, Mesa Verde in Colorado.
Perfect temps and beautiful foliage. Sunny days, cool nights where you can have a fire glowing. The scent of pinon and chiles roasting...mmmm.
