Where should we go?
A friend and myself want to do a trip but we have no idea what to do. We are tempted to throw a dart at a map of the US and see where it takes us. Instead of doing that I decided to let you guys throw the dart, so to speak. I have traveled about half the United States and she has barely been out of state(we're from AZ). She just visits family in Nebraska and South Dakota and that's it. We have roughly 2 weeks of vacation time. So...
Where would you recommend we go?

I would imagine budget will play a role. Since the dollar is strong in Canada and the weather is usually good there in August, that might be a good idea. Why not check flight costs?
I think it would help to know more about your travels and likes/dislikes.

Since you are from Arizona and she goes to landlocked states, I would pick a coast - either west as Andrew suggested or east as I suggest.
Fly to Boston, see some historic stuff, spend some days at a beach/coast location, rent a car and see some other parts of New England.
Hard to be more specific if do not know budget and preferences.

We are trying to keep on a budget. I work for a hotel so I get a really nice discount which helps so much. The only thing we probably won't do is strenuous hikes as she has knee problems. Walking trails and such is no problem. We do like seeing museums and new things. We like scenic road stops. When we have done little weekend trips we make it a point to stop at all the scenic view points and see what is so scenic about them. I was thinking a road trip to scenic view points would be fun. Any ideas?

Qantas, the Australia airline is having a great rate from San Francisco to Vancouver. Lunch and wine included on the flight. Individual tv monitors on a Boeing 747. This summer, I'm flying from Palm Beach to San Francisco (or Oakland) San Francisco to Vancouver on Qantas, taking the train back to Seattle and flying from Seattle back to Florida.
Qantas doesn't fly from San Francisco to Vancouver every day so you may need to play with the dates.
