Where should we go?

I dunno - what should I make for dinner tonight? Considering hamburgers, burritos and omelets.
Seriously - WHY are you considering those places? What do you want to do? How many are you and what ages? Certainly all of them are good vacation destinations, so the only way for someone to help you choose is to know what you want out of a vacation . . .

Sorry, we are mid 30's. Just DH & I going. Want to go somewhere warm in October. Trying to choose someplace with a beach/ocean atmosphere. Want some R&R. Like to stay someplace right on the ocean with activities & nice restaurants nearby.

Key West is my favorite domestic vacation destination. But, October can be problematic. First of all, there's Fantasy Fest. Unless that's why you want to be there, it's best avoided, hotels are way expensive, and it's a mob. The first half of the month Blue Heaven and Seven Fish (two of my favorite restuarants) are closed. (Anyway, they have been the past two years.)
Also, you should know that Key West is not known for its beaches. They just aren't that good. If a beach is really important to you, I'd look elsewhere.
What Key West does have is an island atmosphere. Lots of greenery. Lots of blooming plants. Great walking town. Loads of fun restaurants and bars. There are dozens of fun small hotels/B&B's. It's a fun place to hang out.

If you want a quiet vacation, go to Sanibel/Captiva. However, if you want to go to a place where you won't need a car much, go to Ft. Lauderdale and try to get a room at Marriott Harbor Beach through Priceline.com (Beach/Resort rating.) You won't be disappointed. You'll be within walking distance of the Water Taxi and be right on the beach in one of the nicest areas. In October you should still be able to get a good rate via Priceline at the MHB. Check BiddingForTravel.com and find out how much people paid for this hotel last October.
Sorry, I don't know much about the St. Pete/Clearwater areas. Also, Key West will be expensive in October. I love KW, but I think October is a busy month there.
