Where should I go?

Just wondering where I should go within the US. Want to escape and relax, good food, safe area, beautiful scenery. I like history hate beaches. I can't find anything to get excited about any suggestions? Anyone?

Where are you coming from? When? Price? Gotta give a bit more on the wishlist.

Is cost a factor? If yes, where are you coming from? Where have you already been in the US? Which history do you like? So far not a lot to go on. Is weather a factor and if so which month will you be traveling? Cities or rural?

If you aren't excited by anything in the US right now maybe you should consider somewhere else. Just a thought.

Also, what places have you considered but rejected. And what places do you consider "unsafe?" I have no problem walking around downtown Philadelphia at night, for instance, but others may not share my view.

I've considered New York, charleston, Seattle, Boston. I'm not sure that I want to go to a big city though.

This is a beautiful place to stay in an equally stunning area:

Lots to see and do:

I spent 5 days there last May and loved it. I am not sure if you are going alone or with someone. I went alone and it was perfect to relax, great food, scenery that will knock you over and safe.

Do you want someplace warm? $5000 for how long? Does it have to be the US? Lots of nice non-beach places outside the US in November.

Charleston/Savannah/Beaufort, SC - either drive up there or rent a car when you get to Savannah. Although along the coast, not really beach destinations. Plenty of history, great food, relaxing views.

I know you said US, but Vancouver, BC. or Seattle area.

I would not go to Boston or NYC in November unless you like cold, nasty weather.

Today mkat is asking about Europe in November, same budget. Is there any point continuing here?

Virginia has tons of history and still has nice weather in early Nov. You may even see the leaves all in color! You could land in Richmond, capital of the confederates, go to Williamsburg and also head west to charlottesville and the shenandoah mountains. History is our middle name here in VA and it is not as high priced as some bigger city areas.
