Hi Shar --
I hope you're well. Songdoc is alive and well on Kauai.;-) I can't think of a better place to be during this crazy time.
Through June 30th anyone arriving in the islands is subject to a strictly enforced 14-day quarantine. Of course, very few tourists are willing to come under those restrictions.
My heart breaks for those on the island (and elsewhere) who are being devastated financially. But with there being almost no tourists here it has taken paradise to a next level. There is no traffic and no lines at the supermarkets.
There have been no cases confirmed on Kauai in more than a month, but the future will depend on how the tourist situation is handled.
People seem to be social distancing at the beaches. The parking lots at Hanalei Bay & Lumahai have been packed, but there is enough room for people to spread out on the beach.
I went to Ke'e yesterday and there were not many people.
That's the update!

I am enjoying all your updates, even the ones about lockdown that make me sad. We have had to postpone our plans for an extended family vacation, 2 years of planning, with our children and grandchildren (party of 16), for this year. Hawaiian Airlines has canceled our flights for the end of June, but has graciously refunded all that was paid in full. The house rental agency has moved our reservation for that ‘perfect’ Poipu house to June 2021. Fingers crossed, we will return.

Songdoc, your photo is wonderful. Mahalo nui loa!. I have-not been to Kauai for probably 8-9 years. Thank you for this reminder. (Where on earth does the time go?)

socaltraveler: I'm glad you're enjoying my posts. So sorry about your trip being canceled! These are tough times for travelers (and everyone else!). But I'm glad you were able to get a refund from the airline and were able to defer the Poipu house until next year.
So far I have canceled three trips. I'm guessing two more will soon be added to that list.
CaliNurse: Thanks for the nice comment about photo. It's hard to miss with scenery like that! Yes, the years do go by ... I hope you'll get back to Kauai.
