Where are the Hawaii hotels with good snorkeling?

We are planning to visit The Big Island, Kauai, Maui and Oahu. We would like to stay in at least one or two hotels that have good snorkeling nearby. Also looking for tips on good snorkeling areas around the islands in general. We also may take a day trip from Maui to snorkel at Lanai. How does the snorkeling in Hawaii compare to the Caribbean--the best snorkeling I have seen there was in the BVI's and St. John and it was amazing! Thanks for your help!

I think the Sheraton at Blackrock Kaanapali is great on Maui. Really any of the hotels on that sections of Kaanapali Beach are great. Also, Westin, Kaanapali Beach Hotel or Condos like Whaler and Kaanaplai Alii.

Hapuna Prince Resort is on Hapuna Beach (Big Island) and it has pretty good snorkeling. We always saw lots of turtles there. The Sheraton on Maui also has great snorkeling right there on site.

We loved staying at the Maui Sheraton at Black Rock. The snorkeling was great last July. We saw lots of fish, dolphins , a ray & a huge sea turtle around the Black Rock. A short drive from the Sheraton is Honolua Bay. That was a great place to snorkel. It's a huge protected bay. We rented snorkel gear from Snorkle Bob's for the week. It can be returned at different Hawaiian Island drop off locations.Hope you have lots of fun!

Ko'olina on oahu is great. You can stay at the marriot there or to save money stay somewhere close by and then just visit the bays there for snorkelling.

Don;t forget to go to hanauma bay for snorkelling (no hotel)

the beach next to the sheraton keahou beach on the big island has exceptional snorkeling and usually quite a few turtles. get out of the elevator, go through the beach shack-snack bar and you're there.

We stayed at the Outrigger Keaohou Beach Resort on the Big Island last week. The rooms are dated but the common areas are beautiful, and the best snorkeling is right next door. Sea turtles live right in front of the hotel and are visible from the Verandah bar and oceanfront/view rooms. It was a great location and we were very pleased.
