Breakfast Place in downtown Seattle

Just flying there for the day to shop but will be getting there alittle early, so we wanted a place to have a good breakfast to start our day.

Seattle is short on breakfast places outside of hotel dining rooms and coffee houses.

The Pike Place Market has several options: The Athenian Inn (with great views of the waterfront), Lowell's, and for excellent pasteries and coffee--La Panier.

Cafe Campagne right above Pike Place Market, next to Inn at the Market. Excellent French.

I believe Cafe Campagne, Etta's, and Macrina Bakery do breakfast/brunch only on the weekend. During the week, good breakfast places are in hotels (e.g. Sazerac and The Georgian) and in the neighborhoods--such at The 5 Spot on Queen Anne Hill and Coastal Kitchen on Capitol Hill (both about 1.5-2.0 miles from downtown).

CJ's Restaurant, 2619 1st in Belltown been doing breakfasts for years (pancakes, the works).

But I think the places in Pike Place Market or Le Pichet would be more fun and Seattle-y.

I agree with all of the above. Seattle is short on breakfast places. The Boat Street Cafe (check the web site) is good on breakfast too. I second however, Cafe Campagne or Le Pichet. I hate to offer it up for for decent food, there's always The Cheesecake Factory by the Sheraton downtown.

I just got another idea. If you are staying downtown, like to take a walk before breakfast, and want to eat at an authentic Seattle 24/7 joint, check out Five Point Café, 415 Cedar Street. The No. 9 breakfast (two hot cakes, two links, one egg) is $6.99.

The Five Point is in the direction of (and not far from) the Space Needle.

I like Lola's at the Hotel Andra..
Tom Douglas the chef has Etta's too and I hear is quite excellent. If I remember correctly, it is across the street or a block away..
Have fun shopping..

I was going to suggest Lola, but then I noticed cereal with fruit is $9 and egg dishes are in the $12-$14 range. Seems unnecessarily pricy. See: http://www.tomdouglas.com/lola

As someone mentioned, if it is the weekend you have more options of restaurants offering "brunch".

Is there a must try location for Saturday brunch? I will be staying at the Fairmont Olympic and currently planning for room service and a late check-out. But would not mine enjoying brunch with a view of the city or harbor.

There are quite a few good brunches in the Downtown area. Cutter's Bayhouse might not be the most unique of them, but it offers great food and a fabulous view. Just north of Pike Place Market on Western Ave.

Sat brunch at Cafe Campagne or Maximillens in the market are both fantastic and put you in a unique and beautiful area with views of the sound and mountains

I third (I think this is the third) the 5 Point. That is if it is breakfast you want, not brunch. As soon as I saw your question that is what I thought of...but two othes beat me to it.

I'll second the rec of Maximilien in the market for brunch. They have a website-you can preview the food and view.
