When reading posts, do you have a map handy to see where places are located?

I've started keeping my road atlas next to the computer so I can check on locations mentioned in posts. It sure beats memory.

I usually only read posts about places I've been or would like to go, so I know where they are. But if anything comes up that I'm not familiar with and am interested in, I just use mapquest in another browser window to find out where it is.

I don't, but sometimes I wish I had one. Mostly when someone asks a long distance question, like "where should I stop between New York and Quebec" or something like that. I find mapquest very bad for looking at large areas.
Is there an online site for looking at larger road maps? not getting directions or anything, just if I want to see, say, all of New England on a map with just the major highways?

well, yeah, I know I can zoom out. But at least with mapquest and yahoo.maps, I find this unsatisfactory. As soon as you zoom out to anything bigger than one state, you loose all detail...no roads! and the map size itself is pretty small.
I wouldn't mind giving up the interactive aspects (like finding a specific address), if I could look at a big map with a reasonable level of detail. I know, I know...buy a road map. sometimes I just want to browse it though.
I haven't tried google maps, I'll give it a look.
