When do fall airfare specials start?

Hi- We were thinking of going to Oahu towards the end of Sept 2006 (wedding anniversary). Would the fall airfare specials of started then? Trying to figure out if we could get a good deal then (we fly from San Francisco) or if it would be super expensive.

Thanks!

When I have a question such as the one you pose, I go to www.travelocity.com where I enter my departure city and destination city and then chose the "flexible dates" alternative. This procedure often helps me find an airline with which to book a flight directly.

Hi- Thanks for your suggestion. I did look at travelocity but I think it is too early to gage what the airfares will be. Since for some airlines (AA & ATA) it is too far inadvance for them to give me a fare quote on their websites.

I know there are fall sales on like Aloha and Hawaiian but I am just not sure if they don't start till Mid Oct or if they start earlier.

In Frommers "hawaii for under $80 a day" it says that sept- mid dec is a cheaper time to go, so that is why I am hoping they start their airfare sales in sept.

Usually the sales are announced 2-3 months before the time period.

So the fall sales from San Francisco to Honolulu should be announced around July.

The end of September should be about as cheap as it gets.

September (after Labor Day) and October have less tourists to Hawaii than any other period.

Happy trails to you, can you please tell me more about how travelocity's flexible dates program works. Thanks in advance.

I've seen great sale fares for Hawaii advertised in late July or early August for travel the last week of August until well into October. The sales include relatively low prices for first class, too.

To use the "Flexible dates" option, go to travelocity.com enter your From/To airports (SFO and HNL). Then toggle on the "Flexible dates" option.

At the "Start" option, select August.
At the "Thru" option, select October.
This will give you fares for departures in those months.
