What clothes should we bring to wear this week - having checked the forecast is says low 70's and sunny - will it be warm enough to sightsee in shorts during the day and chinos for eve? Many thanks Chrissie

I wear shorts when it is in the 70s. It's beautiful out today, definitely a shorts day. Pants for evening makes sense too.

If you are going to indoor activitie I would wear pants because at this time of year the AC is still on in most buildings.

Today was about 76. The highs later on are mid 60's up to about 75 on Friday, dipping into the 40's at night. I'd go with khakis and shortsleeves instead of shorts for daytime, as Friday (warmest day) will be a little cloudy. Bring a jacket or sweater for evening.

A cold front is coming in--leave the shorts at home and bring a light jacket.

If you know what to expect temperature wise why are you asking if it will be warm enough?

It's chilly tonight(mid to high 30's). The mornings this week will be light jacket weather but you will be comfortable in long sleeves and pants for afternoon. The afternoons are sunny and in the low 70's, so perhaps you would wear shortsleeves if you're are comfortable with that. Enjoy DC! It's going to be just perfect, weatherwise for the next few days.
