What to expect w/Pro Bowl during my Oahu trip??

Hello, everyone. My girlfriend and I will be staying at my timeshare at the Marriott's Ko'Olina Beach Club for the first time since my hubby and I purchased the unit last year. The hotel just called me to confirm my reservations and to advise that the TS grounds and the Ihilani hotel next door will be under "very strict security" while we are there and only guests will be allowed onsite due to the Pro Bowl, and both places are booked for the event. Not being a football fan, I have no real idea what this means. Anyone have any ideas as to what we might expect? I'm hoping it doesn't mean there will be athletes and entourages everywhere. We want to party while we're on Oahu, but sheesh, we planned on driving into HNL/Waikiki to do that! We want to relax while at the resort. Anyway, thanks for any input y'all might have. Tamara

According to all the publicity in the Honolulu papers, the parties and festivities are all being held in Waikiki and Honolulu.

While you may be surrounded by football players and some celebs, my guess is that they'll be using Ko `Olina for quiet R&R.

auntiemaria, Bowl Game and quiet R&R do not belong in the same sentence !! You don't know much about football do you ?

Ha!

What I was intending to convey, was that the players will be using Ko `Olina to get away from their fans (thus, the high security during their stay there), and get some rest between practices, parties and PR events before the game.

Me? I'll be at the neighborhood Super Bowl bash -- complete with 3 TVs!

Who's playing?

This is TNewman2119 -- changed my screen name.

Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll be seeing some athletes and celebs. My husband is just drooling at the thought of being there during Pro Bowl and meeting some of the athletes. It's a big yawner for me, and he's hating that I'm not appreciating it! LOL! Oh well, my friend and I should have a great time. Thanks again. Tamara

I predict Tom Brady will throw at least 2 home runs and Tedi Bruschi will get a few steals and maybe a 3 pointer.

You will see a lot of athletes and either their families or "lady entertainment" everywhere. Alot of people that cater to them etc.

Crusty Rusty-Being a Steeler and 49er fan, sometimes not knowing anything about football is a good thing...like both of their coaching staffs!
