What to do in White Plains, NY?
Hi, I've reactivated my account (I was formerly raspberryberet) and though this question seems to have been posted before, it's nothing recent.
I will be traveling to White Plains, NY next week for business and will have a few hours to kill on Monday evening and Thursday afternoon. Do you recommend anything in the city center that I should check out? I won't have a rental car, so it isn't likely that I can make it out to some of the historic sites in the area.
I live in LA, so shopping isn't a priority.
Also, any good restaurant recs? (Up to $30pp)
Thank you! It's good to be back!

Without a car, I am afraid you are going to be pretty limited. There is public transportation [train, bus etc] but with limited time it would make getting to the better spots difficult.
Also, not knowing what you like to do; hard to come up with ideas.

Katonah is a nice community with some nice things to see and do. You could take the train, if schedule works. Caramoor, and the Art Musuem is nice.
Also, SUNY Purchase might have some things you'd like.

You can be in midtown Manhattan in about 1/2 hour on Metro North and many trains stop at White Plains.
Here is the train schedule.

With no car and no indication of exactly where you'll be or what you'd want to do, I'd also say get on a Metro North train and head to Manhattan. White Plains is not really set up for public transportation. For the Thurs. afternoon, depending on how late in the day, you might consider getting a taxi to the Rockefeller Estate, Kykuit, if it's early enough to get in for a few hours.

Aduchamp is correct. Without a car, getting into and out of Manhattan seems a much more logical choice for Monday evening. And, you'd certainly have a choice of activitie. For Thursday afternoon, if you're willing to spend some bucks on a cab, Kykuit is about 7 miles from White Plains and is certainly worth the time.
