Phila to White Plains, NY by train
I want to travel on a weekday from Philadelphia to White Plains. I have not been able to access the Amtrak website for some reason. And telephone is out currently because of storm conditions. I need to be in White Plains by 2:30 or 3 preferably;
Any help with times and schedules would be much appreciated. Thank you. annetti

Amtrak doesn't have a station in White Plains NY. So you'd have to take a train from PHL to NY Penn., then get across to Grand Central Styn to get the metro north local train to White Plains. That train runs frequently and takes about 45 minutes.
There is a train at 1:49 pm that gets there around 2:31 pm, for example. Or get one at 1:22 to get there at 2:26.
IN short, get a train to NYP so you get there by noon and you'll be more than fine, if you take the metro or walk between stations in NY. or take a taxi there are trains all day long between PHL and NYP you know, so take
10:55 am to 12:15 pm Keystone
10:42 to 12:15 NE regional
11:10-12:40 NE regional
9:45 to 11:21 Vermonter
or others

Here's the Metro North RR Harlem Line website & schedule. There are 2 stations in White Plains so be sure to find out which one is closer to your destination.

Once the reach White Plains, how will you get to your destination?
I ask because rather than go through the mess of changing train stations in Manhattan, you might take a NE Regional Amtrak from Philadelphia directly to New Rochelle, which is 10 miles or so from White Plains.

Thanks, everyone for your answers, Very helpful.
ellenem: It looks like the easiest way to get to White Plains is to go to New Rochelle.
I. What station do I leave from in Phila?. I imagine a taxi or Uber would be able to take me to my hotel once I arrive in New Rochelle.
2. Any guess how long the ride is and
3. how frequently the train runs?
Thanks in advance for answering my questions. annetti

Hi Annetti,
While certain commuter trains run by SEPTA (say to Trenton or Wilmington) leave also from other central Philadelphia stations, the train station in Philadelphia you want is 30th Street Station.
It looks like it’s a little over 2 hours. One choice that might appeal is the 11:18am train out of Philadelphia which is due to arrive at 1:27pm.
Best wishes, Daniel

Hi Daniel, I've been meaning to get back to you and all the others who helped me figure out how to get from Phila. to White Plains, NY. Thank you, IMDonehere, too. I took the train from 30th Street Station. (I was staying on City Line Avenue) so it was an easy 15 minute or so ride. I booked a train to New Rochelle: I can't remember how long the ride was, but probably less than 3 hrs. From there I took an Uber to my hotel. It was incredibly easy. The train was not crowded and comfortable. Thank you, again. I had so much trouble finding the easiest way to go and you people solved my problem easily for me.
